Description
Louis Couperin (1626 – 1661), Le Tombeau de Mr. Blancrocher.
Edited & Arranged by Michael Lorimer.
8 Pages.
When the famous French lutenist Blancrocher met an untimely death in 1652, a series of Tombeaux were composed in his memory by fellow musicians: Froberger, Dufaut, Denis Gautier and by Louis Couperin. The Tombeau is a slow elegaic but elegant work demonstrating the affection felt for their departed friend and colleague. Michael Lorimer’s transcription is a masterful arrangement showing due deference to baroque performing practices.
